More 1.5TB SATA Hard Drives to come, this time it’s I-O Data in action

As everyone is well aware of the fact that the market for high capacity hard drives is indeed booming up like hell, so this time it is I-O Data who has decided to mint some money following the trend.

Therefore I-O Data is planning to launch its own massive 1.5TB storage capacity hard drive. This drive, which is soon going to be launched by I-O Data, will directly compete with Seagate’s Barracuda 7200.11 1.5TB hard drive.

Although not much is known about the technology, it is known that it provides an impressive rotational speed of 7,200RPM.

On the down side, I-O Data’s 1.5TB drive a hefty price tag of $320, which is way above Seagate’s price-tag of $120.

Samsung starts 256GB SSD mass production in style

Samsung has started mass production 256GB solid state drives, for use in notebooks and desktop PCs.

These latest 256GB SSDs enhance the performance rates of the Samsung 64GB and 128GB SSDs by almost more than double, by boosting up the READ and WRITE rates, to become the SSD with the highest overall performance in the personal computer industry!

It combines sequential lightening fast read rates of 220MBPS with sequential write rates of 200MBPS, and its erase cycles are also very quick at about 100GBs per minute, delivering all round high-performance.

It also offers a high degree of energy efficiency, with power consumption of 1.1 watts while delivering outstanding reliability and durability.

The 256GB SSD also has very high operating speeds, translating longer periods in either stand-by or idle mode, and the result is 40 minutes of extended operation on a single battery charge!

It weight about 81 grams just like the 128GB SSDs and retains the standard 9.5 mm drive thickness.

It also comes with an optional proprietary encryption programming that provides total disk encryption, which is a key feature for many corporate users!

Google Phone; The iPhone Killer?

The hot news these days is the joint venture of Google, T-Mobile, and HTC introducing the first phone running the Google Mobile OS, Android, and the specs of the Google Phone were unveilled at a featured press conference in New York City.

The Google Phone will apparently focus on openness, but will the future of the mobile internet be driven by open platforms, only time can tell…

Apparently this is what Google is betting on with Android on their side, and T-Mobile is counting on it badly to stop the flurry of customers leaving their service for AT&T’s iPhone!!

Specifications of Google Phone as per the official report include:

• Touch screen - swipe across screen, long press access for more functionality,

• Drag-and-drop options

• Featuring unique one-click ordering facility from Amazon

• Built in Music player, featuring one long press lets you use more features like song options etc

• Gtalk IM included

• Address book associated with Google Maps showing Directions/Traffic View/Street View

• “Compass Mode”, in which the scene moves as you do

• Onscreen controls to zoom-in, in the web browser
