Complete review of iPhone 3G… the new revolutionary cell phone from Apple!

Yes indeed, apple has hit the markets with its latest launch – the iPhone 3G with extra-ordinary capabilities that distinguish it from the rest!

Advantages over the previous version
Well if you are trying to analyze it based upon your experience with the previous version then you need to give it a second thought! As a matter of fact, apple has eliminated so many annoying little hang-ups that you might run into while using the old one. The GPS pinpoints to meters in the 3G instead of blocks, the 3G connection slashes web loading times by minutes to seconds, the more rounded case feels better in the hand and most importantly the new software polishes the OS and opens the phone up to nearly unlimited capabilities through the countless programs that are already being written by the brilliant legions of faithful developers!

Distinguishing features
The iPhone 3G combines the features of a phone, iPod and an internet browsing machine, providing great communication features such as desktop-class email and web browsing with the help of MobileMe and Exchange support, both of which push emails to your phone as soon as they’re received, just like on the BlackBerry and other smart phones. It allows you to sync contacts and calendar events with your computer or your office’s system directly over the air, without ever needing to dock, or take any action.

Amazing web-browser and Wi-Fi
It has the advanced safari browser along with good Wi-Fi reception lasting to about 120 feet and what’s more? There’s a new Airplane mode that turns off cellular but powers up Wi-Fi for airline internet! Officially the iPhone 3G has browsing battery life rating on Wi-Fi of 6 hours and 5 hours of browsing.

Innovative keypad & 2MP camera
Considering the software side, the iPhone has the most advanced touch-screen OS out there today, with cool features like intelligent keypad and functions like scrolling, dialing, panning, zooming, touching and pinching, all the actions that you can do to get around your photos, maps, movies, music and of course most importantly your phone calls. The camera has a 2MP shooter which returns 1600 x 1200 pixels, but it lacks the video capture! You can sync all the photos instantly as well.

The App Store
Another good thing about the iPhone 3G is the App Store, which gives you access to a gigantic library of third-party applications to add features such as controlling your iTunes, instant messaging, 3D gaming and ‘To Do lists’. One drawback is that it doesn’t support the cool apps like the NES emulators and video recording programs that don’t work through the SDK so loads of unofficial third party apps may never make it to the store! Moreover, the Apps also take a considerable amount of time to install and uninstall which may be at times a bit annoying, but still surely worth the wait!

Stunning looks and memory!
Moving on to the hardware, the case is very easy to smudge. It has two variants each as per memory capacity and colors. The black color is available in both 8GB & 16GB sizes, but the white only comes in pricier 16GB version!

The iPhone 3G has a gorgeous 5-inch wide screen offering good daylight viewing, with a stunning 480×320 screen resolution.

Subscription
You may avail subscription at a subsidized price of $199 for the 8GB and $299 for the 16GB, although the $10 extra a month for 3G access is rather a rip-off!

What’s inside the box?
A small USB charger of the size of an ice cube, headphones, a sync cable and a SIM eject tool.

You can use the 3G only for active browsing, maps and certain apps that need it, dynamically switching to EDGE for IMing, email downloading and weather checking.

So if you haven’t caught hold of an iPhone 3G yet! Well then, what are you waiting for?
