Wii and Zune : Perfect Christmas Gifts

Posted on 16 September 2006

Christmas may be a few months away but many people have already started shopping. It’s just not the consumers, the production companies are getting their hotshot product ready for Christmas as well. There are a wide array of new products coming out in the market for this Christmas but the two that are on my list are special. These two are simply a revolution.

Nintendo Wii is a product that will take the gaming market in a sweep. The first words regarding the Wii technology sounded exciting and as we come closer for the product to be released; excitement just gets better. Wii will go on sale on November 19th in the US two weeks ahead of Japan release. But Europeans might have to wait a few days longer for Wii’s European debut. Nintendo is planning on releasing Wii on December 8th in Europe and a day before in Australia. Pre-orders for Wii started today and it would be interesting to see the response from the gamers.

The next gift on my list is the iPod killer - Microsoft Zune. As much as I adored iPod, I hated it equally. It is never a healthy market if there is just one specific product like the iPod. All the other mp3 players are no match. Monopoly by Apple meant that users had no choice but to use Apple specified products and softwares like iTunes. With Microsoft entering the fray, Apple will have to stoop down to be flexible or iPod would see a dive in it’s sales. Zune has a number of features that are mind blowing like sharing the music over Wi-Fi and transferring to and from X-Box 360. Read the entire features on Wiki. Microsoft Zune will be making it’s debut sometime before Christmas and I reckon that it would be a great Christmas gift this year. Zune release might see reduced iPod sales but the ultimate winner will be decided once Zune is tested.

Well, I know what I want for Christmas. If by some strange reason, if you are interested in sending me these gifts contact me for my address :)
