There are several reports that iTunes is considering offering movie downloads on it’s Music Store. Downloading music is understandable as the music downloaded can be transferred into an iPod or written on a CD. While most people prefer watching movies on the real television or the bigger screen; porting the downloaded movies onto a DVD isn’t a simple process.
A downloaded movie would be around 4 GB in size and converting it into a DVD takes at least 3-4 hours. The process includes converting the downloaded files into DVD format and then burning the converted files onto a DVD. The main process here is the conversion of the movie downloads into DVD format. The software isn’t free and the ones available in the market aren’t top class either. A couple of popular softwares that were tried out didn’t exactly do the job with 100% satisfaction. There are few more rumors that Apple is coming out with a product that is the answer for linking the movie downloads with TV. Reuters report : Analysts speculated that Apple may stream movie videos directly on to television sets, or connect Apple’s smallest desktop computer, the Mac Mini, to the TV with a more user-friendly interface, or use an upgraded video iPod to make the link. We rather hope that the Apple solution is a software solution rather than a hardware solution. Softwares make more sense and inexpensive(or even free). Every computer in the store today comes with a DVD writer and it only makes sense if iTunes could allow users to download the image of the movie or provide a software that does it.
