A few years back, finger scanning was only for safety vaults in banks and casinos. It was an advanced technology which was mainly adapted in a few financial institutions but mostly in the movies. The technology involves scanning the finger ridges and comparing it with a stored set of finger prints. If there is a match, then the required action is taken.
For the first time in the school history, Rome City Schools is implementing finger scanner at the Cafeterias. Children have to place their finger on their scanner for the lunch to go on their account. Previously children in Rome City Schools had to punch in a pin to get lunch. The finger scanner process is less time consuming and less of a hassle.
The parents and guardians of children have raised an important issue. It’s the ever impounding issue of security. The Rome city schools would have to secure their server that stores the finger scans. Keeping this in mind, finger scanning for cafeterias have been made optional.
While these schools go on a finger scanner, authorities around the world should replace all the ids with a finger scanner. This way, I do not have to carry my ID with me where ever I go. Maybe even the credit cards could be replaced by a finger scanner. The problem I see is that the Hollywood movies have shown us ways that we can replicate the finger prints.
