Watch Out for Excel Attachments

It is well known that attachments sent by people who we do not know shouldn’t be opened. Usually the virus programs come in the form of .exe files for Windows. While the spammers and virus artists find different ways of spreading viruses and malware, Microsoft’s security response blog reports that excel files are being transmitted as malware.

Microsoft has activated their security response process and have added detection to the Windows Live Safety Center for up-to-date removal of malicious software that attempts to exploit the vulnerability. The Windows Live Safety Center is located at the following website: http://safety.live.com

They have received one report from a customer who was affected by this excel vulnerability. Is one report enough to come out in the open regarding the vulnerability in Excel?
